Daniel Schamroth is a name that resonates within the acoustic indie sphere with a special hue. His new EP, “Major Companion,” released on the ‘So, Let’s Talk’ label, is a true manifestation of the accumulated experience and skill of the musician.
Daniel himself describes his music best: “It’s the sound of a boy with a guitar, raised in the 90s, listening to his parents’ records, including those featuring Neil Young.” This influence is explored in every track, where moments of intimacy and personal perception saturate the music. Yes, indeed. Every note, every chord, seems tinged with memories and emotions, reminiscent of the sounds that inspired Daniel in his youth. In “Major Companion,” this deep connection to the musical heritage of the past is clearly traced, making his creation particularly sincere. In Schamroth’s music, every listener will inevitably find something special that will resonate with them among the beats, chords, and words.

The mastery of Daniel Schamroth’s EP was crafted with the renowned producer, a two-time Grammy winner, Guy Massey (known for his work with The Beatles, Paul Simon, and Ed Sheeran), who added clarity and commercial shine while still preserving the deep emotional hue of each instrument. Guy Massey brought clarity to the album’s sound, adding commercial shine without forgetting to maintain the profound emotional tone of each instrument. Despite being a fairly minimalist record, Massey allows each instrument to stand out distinctly, without getting lost in the overall sonic flow. The responsibility for mastering fell upon Pete Maher, whose credits include work with U2 and Noel Gallagher. His subtle perception of sound helped create the perfect sonic image that not only meets the highest quality standards but also satisfies the tastes of the most discerning listeners.
But undoubtedly, the main element of all this musical magic is Daniel Schamroth himself, his music, his lyrics. I am confident that we are on the threshold of a new era in his career, where he is just beginning to fully realize his potential. “Major Companion” undoubtedly holds its deserved position among the strongest works in indie music. This album is permeated with emotions, intrigue, and deep meaning that instantly captivates as soon as you press play. Daniel Schamroth combines unique melodies in his music with lyrics that touch the deepest, most secret corners of our existence. It is incredibly exciting to witness Daniel Schamroth’s creative growth and see his career blossoming before our eyes.

It’s noteworthy that in the EP “Major Companion,” Daniel Schamroth not only sings but also plays the guitar, making it his constant companion throughout his career. You will feel the deep connection Daniel has with his instrument from the very first track, “Dying To Feel Alive,” where each guitar chord seems to reflect the musician’s infinite soul. Here, Schamroth’s vocals sound incredibly effortless and tender, emphasizing the gentleness and lightness of the entire EP. Then, in “Lonely Old Heart,” he adds a touch of melancholy, blending it with soft arrangements. I appreciate that in the sound of the EP “Major Companion,” you will always encounter Daniel speaking about difficult situations, yet there is always a ray of hope, hinting that despite all the melancholy, everything will be alright.
“Lonely Old Heart” is an incredibly stylish and commercially appealing track. As for “Rat Race,” it stands out as one of the strongest tracks on the EP, where Daniel’s vocals reach high notes, acquiring an incredibly stylish sound. The smoky atmosphere, light guitars, and almost plaintive vocals that pierce through the soul create an atmosphere of modern pop acoustic music. It is in this track that Daniel Schamroth’s ability to push acoustic sound to the maximum is evident, capturing trendy genres and blending them with his own sound. In this song, Daniel speaks to everyone facing difficulties, supporting them and giving hope for overcoming challenges. “Rat Race” serves as a kind of support for anyone willing to let music into their heart. Melancholy and sadness grip the heart while listening to “Rat Race,” but the bright and airy ending offers hope, which is fully realized in the following tracks “If I Got You” and “Don’t Let It Get You Down.”

I love the track “If I Got You” with its genre-defying sound: it’s an acoustic ballad with delightful vocal performance, soaring highs, lightning-fast shifts in vocal styles. It’s a pop acoustic song for an evening show with a single spotlight directed at Daniel, and finally, it’s the perfect fusion of orchestral strings, arranged by Manchester composer Joe Duddell and recorded with a live orchestra at the legendary North London studio Konk. In contrast, the track “Don’t Let It Get You Down” with its light bluesy touch relaxes and sets the mood for the most romantic thoughts and slow dances. I adore it! The EP concludes with the track “Cold Wind Blowing,” which leaves a feeling of ellipsis after the final note. Daniel Schamroth managed to create a vivid, memorable finale that seemingly concludes “Major Companion” while also leaving the feeling that there will be much more new music ahead.
I personally was amazed by Daniel’s ability to convey different emotions through his voice and infuse each track with individuality. A lot of work went into the EP, from conception to realization, including crafting the vibe and taking promo shots, which incredibly accurately reflect the sound of the EP. You can look at the photos, and you’ll immediately feel the aesthetics, cinematography, and tenderness of the sound that Daniel Schamroth offers. I recommend everyone to listen to the EP, find their favorite tracks, and add them to their playlists. Also, don’t forget to keep up with the news on the musician’s social media, perhaps the next concert will be near you.
