Douzey’s EP ‘Discard’: A Musical Diary of Life’s Absurdity

Douzey isn’t your typical pop star. Armed with a lineup of offbeat tales and quick wit, she and her latest EP “Discard” epitomize a vibe that’s all about embracing the everyday and the outright absurd.

But let’s rewind a bit. After dropping her debut single ‘Ophelia’ and an EP that left fans craving more, Douzey faced a challenge. Health issues, including the onset of fibromyalgia, threatened to put her music career on pause. Yet, instead of letting adversity dim her light, Douzey tackled her obstacles head-on, diving into rehabilitation with the determination of a warrior reclaiming her throne. And now? Now, she’s back with a vengeance. With a fresh wave of inspiration and purpose coursing through her veins, Douzey is ready to set the world on fire with ‘Discard’.

I’ve been listening to the new EP for the third time in a row now, and to be honest and frank, Douzey has a unique gift – writing stunning tracks when she’s upset. This energy forms the basis of the playful and ironic EP, where each song explores various absurd situations, but does so with such style and grace that it’s truly admirable.

Listening to ‘Discard’, you get the feeling of an evening cozy chat with your best friend. Except instead of a cup of coffee in your hands, you have a microphone, and a smile on your lips. Each song intertwines not only Douzey’s musical genius but also her unique ability to express emotions through words and melodies. ‘Discard’ is like a diary of life’s most unusual moments, crafted into musical form. And as you listen to each track, it’s as if your own memories of those same absurd situations Douzey sings about come flooding back.

Her unique delivery, style, and brightness overshadow everything from the very first track on the EP, “Peachy”. This track creates an amazing wave of captivating and uplifting mood. The funky guitars have a fiery ability to lead the melody forward and ignite with passion, while the drums create a solid foundation. However, the brightest of all shines the singer’s voice and her sharp phrases. Her flawless delivery entices for complete immersion into her world. Through the first track, Douzey shares her reflections with the world, revealing her inner “self” in her youth, adding a pinch of humor and irony to her “past”. It’s very cool and modern. I like that the singer isn’t afraid to be open and talk about things that many prefer to avoid.

Then, in the track “Toxic Rain,” we are greeted by bright piano and the intimate voice of the singer. In this track, the structure of musical songs is clearly felt, the singer touches on the theme of living together in a constantly rising world, with harmful landlords and the need to move. Well, I’m sure you haven’t encountered a more familiar theme in music yet! And you know, the light fusion of pop sound, carefree and rocking guitars and keys makes it feel like you’re listening to the coolest track in the world, especially when the choirs kick in. Doesn’t this reflect that Douzey’s music could become a driving force for many on the planet? I think that’s exactly the kind of honest, cool, and carefree music the world needs.

The final song, “Pavement,” finishes the release on a bright pop-rock note, Douzey’s voice playful and clean as if capturing a piece of pop-punk with her style and hitting the mark unconditionally. Bad dates, corporate life, the merger of these two things – all fall under the scrutiny and irony of the singer. Oh, it makes the sound so alive, vibrant, unique, and rich that you just want to listen and listen. You know, even if you just want to listen to cool and bright pop music, the EP “Discard” is the perfect choice for you. Just take it and listen, you’ll be delighted.

I know for sure that if you haven’t listened to this singer’s music yet, you’ve missed out on a bunch of cool emotions! And as I mentioned at the very beginning, Douzey is not just a pop star, she’s a true phenomenon. When she sings, it’s like magic – the enchanting notes penetrate the heart and make it beat to the rhythm of her melodies. And her voice! It’s like raindrops in a dry desert – a true calling that sends shivers down your spine.

She simply opens her soul to the audience, like an open book. It’s as if she’s saying, “Here, look at me, as I am. All my joys, all my fears, all my dreams – they’re here, in every note, in every word.” And it’s this sincerity, this genuine emotional generosity that she offers to her listeners, that makes Douzey so unique and captivating.
