Craig Saunders Returns to His Musical Roots with The Brand New EP, “Real Love”

Craig Saunders began his music career as Kid Decker with the release of his first album, “Your Kind,” in 2010. A year later, he joined the band Mighty Oaks, and his life literally became filled with concerts, tours, and interviews. However, when the band decided to take a creative break at the end of 2022, it became a turning point for Craig.

Now, alone in the quiet of his studio, he returns to his roots—writing his own songs. His new EP “Real Love” became available today on all digital platforms, and we certainly could not ignore this release. Craig has truly put into this EP everything he has learned and experienced over the years of his music career.

His new sound is described as “a soulful blend of dream folk with lush harmonies,” perfectly reflecting his aspirations. The music is dreamy, sometimes cinematic. Craig experiments with favorite genres, giving each song a unique touch, yet they all complement each other beautifully.

“Real Love” starts as slow folk, but as you listen, it reveals more and more layers. These songs are filled with stories about life, love, and self-discovery. Such aspects easily immerse the listener in the twists and turns of dreamy pop, allowing one to almost fall in love with “Real Love” from the first few minutes. Precisely such music allows one to clearly see the fundamental principles and importance of one’s existence, feel alive, understand priorities, and make the right choice to become a bit happier in this complex world. Craig knows: real love is not just a theme of his songs. It is something he finds in music again and again.

In the first track “Real Love,” the airy yet deep bass-supported sound induces a hypnotic state. This sensual merger of dream pop sound with gentle folk is both emotive and lyrical, making the track a powerful start that not only reflects but also anticipates contemporary music trends. The track “Here is the Time” continues this light wave, maintaining an incredibly sensual and deep bass, but Craig Saunders opts for minimalism, leaving only percussion and his voice. This creates a feeling of intimacy, like a personal conversation with a close friend, whispered by candlelight. “Here is the Time” has a certain comfort, yet listening to this song, you realize that it sounds strikingly commercial.

Listening to each song creates a feeling of complete immersion in the world of Saunders. It’s as if Craig Saunders was so fully absorbed in the creation of the EP that it became an extension of his inspiration, thoughts, and feelings. “Real Love” continues to unfold in the next track, “Rise Again,” which features a brighter rhythm and a sensual riff, adding richness to the sound. The background vocal harmonies give the track a more vibrant dynamic.

Separately, it’s worth noting his voice—a light, emotive tenor that is ideally suited for the acoustic folk genre. Craig Saunders’ vocals make each song on “Real Love” a true three-minute revelation, where his voice serves as a bridge between complex melodies and the deep emotions he aims to convey to his audience.

The final track “Our Own Way” once again dissolves into the realm of melancholy and folk with light guitar and contemplative vocals by Craig Saunders. This is one of the most personal and minimalist tracks, where the guitar and Saunders’ vocals dominate the atmosphere. The incredibly aesthetic sound of “Our Own Way” unfolds midway through the track, making it my favorite song on the EP. It’s the perfect soundtrack for a romantic film scene—stylish, modern, and flawless.

A significant team of talented musicians and producers participated in recording Craig Saunders’ EP “Real Love.” You can truly feel the unique chemistry that resonates in every track of the EP. Listening to “Real Love,” it’s impossible not to sense how each song reflects a unified creative vision, making this EP genuinely special.

“Real Love” by Craig Saunders is truly something special. I like that when you listen to this EP, every sound is so clear and detailed, it feels like you’re at a concert with musicians playing around you. It creates such an amazing atmosphere that you just don’t want to break away from, and keep returning to! Each song in “Real Love” makes you feel, think, and truly fall in love. Definitely a must-listen.
