It’s precisely such an iron grip on creativity that has brought success to Mont Duamel, a Canadian who masterfully excels in everything – from writing to producing.

Take for example his new record—the EP “Imagine,” recorded alone at a secluded family home by Lake Duamel in Quebec. “Imagine” includes five tracks, each reflecting the emotions and experiences of Mont Duamel. Experiments with electro pop allowed him to expand the sound of genres. This EP is powerful in its ideas, sound, and lyrics, which seem to draw images directly from the subconscious.

Mont Duamel took on a rather massive task—he decided to reflect his emotions in his music on everything from personal life experiences to scents and tastes. And he succeeded. The songs are personal, they mirror his views, his growth, his world. “Imagine” has many layers of meaning, and each layer is a key to something greater, thanks to a unique mix of styles and instruments.

It seems that each track cover already whispers about this. A constantly shifting perception of abstraction assembles a mosaic of varied emotions. It’s like trying to discern the essence through a prism of illusions, with each person seeing something unique, accessible only to their own eyes. This is the multifaceted impression left by Mont Duamel’s EP “Imagine”. This, my friends, is true art, accessible only to cult directors and great musicians.

From the very first track “Around The Axis,” you’ll feel yourself being sucked into the world of rocking synth-pop. Its unusual, bass-heavy sound with echoes that seem to fall into the abyss instantly marks Mont Duamel as a bold experimenter, confidently mastering his style. The addition of strings and orchestral elements expands the soundscape, opening doors to a world not even Mont Duamel had explored before. I’m drawn to the complex harmonies, pulsating rhythm, and distant vocals that create a cozy place where time flows differently.

The track “Mont Royal” returns to a more familiar dance-pop sound, but still retains Mont Duamel’s unique vocals and low beat. Despite the album transitioning from one genre to another, there’s a unifying thread that ties each track into a cohesive conceptual story.

In the middle of the EP, “To Your Body” overturns all expectations and captivates with its relaxed atmosphere. The addition of Donna Missal’s vocals brings new shades to an already rich sound. Its divinely light and seemingly unearthly sound, emanating straight from the heart of Mont Duamel, unfolds into a passionate pop sound. “To Your Body” is one of the most powerful tracks on the EP. Listening to it, it’s impossible not to feel the intertwining of hope and pain, passion and love, as well as a yearning for boundless freedom. Isn’t this akin to the complex interweaving of emotions in the human soul?

The title song “Imagine” sounds like a soothing balm. Its light pop sound with a stylish rhythm, still distorted through a prism of filters, hints at the timelessness of its sound. It’s as if this light pop isn’t playing somewhere outside but directly within the soul or consciousness. In Mont Duamel’s music lies something secret, something mysterious.

And that’s why the last song “See The Sun” sounds so triumphant and bright. The stylish rhythm, unique structure, and Mont Duamel’s voice—all make you crave more. The end of the record comes quickly, but it’s done in the most stylish and emotional way.

Even after decades, or even centuries, you would never say that this record belongs to the past. It sounds as if it exists outside of time constraints, as though it has always been and will always remain relevant, transcending generational boundaries.
