Matt Sahadi is a storyteller. Through his song lyrics, he creates stories that linger in memory for a long time. In his second EP, “Dreams That Kept Your Faith At Night,” there are 5 tracks, which are 5 stories connected into a single narrative about love, pain, shattered hopes, and dissatisfaction. As you listen to track after track, it becomes clear that some personal, even intimate, lyrics are sometimes veiled, and the meaning must be felt subconsciously. This is a very powerful technique that only a few lyricists can master. By enhancing meanings and significance through a blend of various genres, styles, and vocal techniques, the EP turned out to be very strong, emotional, and, I won’t hide it, candid. He manages to make each track inhabit its own universe.

In “Am I Living What I Always Dreamed Of?” vibrant rhythms, rock drums, and electric guitars blend with a cozy harmonica, while Matt Sahadi’s vocals come through powerfully and unashamedly. The song immediately sets an energetic tone, promising an unforgettable start. Then in “Wastelands,” light keys and airy backing vocals fill the space. Sahadi’s vocals slow down and become romantic, with a deep backing that adds a sense of darkness. I love how the energy and power of the punk sound merge with Sahadi’s captivating pop-rock vocals here. The light guitars and his airy phrases sound incredible and natural. This completely emotional track could easily become the soundtrack to a dramatic scene in a melodrama. The prominent guitars and keys add a sense of lightness and a certain mistiness to the space.
For Matt, it always came down to song lyrics. In his own words, he’s a lyricist to the core. Songs for him are short stories, like life itself, without any unnecessary pomp. Maybe not every line is a piece of his biography, but he pours his soul into them fully. It’s not an autobiography, of course, but if you look closely, you can see the real him. Matt, without a doubt, leaves a part of himself in his songs, and even if the story is made up, it still feels like it’s about him. Even the title “Dreams That Kept Your Faith At Night” sounds like something that hits you right in the heart. It’s as if your nightmares and hopes made a truce for a moment to give you a breather.
Such a title immediately brings to mind all those moments when you had to choose between giving up and continuing to fight. It’s about that inner strength we sometimes forget, but that is always there, especially during the darkest nights.
Following the thread of hope, the story continues with the light, summery “Light of Hope.” This track captivates with its catchy rhythm, stylish guitar, and Matt Sahadi’s stunning vocals. “Light of Hope” seems to split the EP into two parts, showing that despite all the pain, there’s always room for hope. Undoubtedly, one of the coolest tracks on the EP!

The release concludes with “Still Were Us” and “Drive All Night.” Continuing the wave of vibrant sound with a groovy rhythm, stylish synth elements, and airy guitars, “Still Were Us” feels like the ultimate ballad. With Sahadi’s powerful performance and divine saxophone, this track becomes the anthem of the EP. I love that “Still Were Us” allows you to fully immerse yourself in the sound, and if you want to throw the most unforgettable party, this track will be the perfect companion! This unique song seems to prepare you for the unforgettable finale titled “Drive All Night.” The powerful sound development feels like the culmination of the story. Deep drums, impeccable vocals, and weeping violins leave an ellipsis… is this really the end of the story?
The EP “Dreams That Kept Your Faith At Night” is a masterpiece of a love story, one that could even replace watching a love-themed TV series. Undoubtedly, if you love vibrant and stylish music with stunning sound, vocals, and concept, this EP might become your favorite.
“Dreams That Kept Your Faith At Night” is a true gem for those who want to take a break from the everyday hustle and immerse themselves in a world of music that breathes and lives. This record feels like an old friend who knows you better than you know yourself. It comes at the right moment and says what you’ve longed to hear.
It’s a heart-to-heart conversation where words aren’t as important as emotions. Sahadi’s vocals literally get under your skin, making you feel, remember, and dream. There are no unnecessary details here; everything is in its place. Absolutely recommended!
