In our times, finding something that sounds like a real modern rock classic is almost like uncovering a rare vinyl at a sale. Just when it seems that all the cool moves are exhausted, along comes Corner Sun with their debut EP “…and eat it too,” which literally makes you remember what it’s like to feel music with your whole body. These guys have managed to gather the best of various rock eras and deliver it with such fresh and powerful sound that you feel: here it is, the new breath of classics.

This EP is like a delicious slap in the face with a cake: as if to say, here we are, and we’re ready to be noticed. The band has assembled their best qualities and produced a collection of tracks that leaves no room for indifference. Each track has its own atmosphere, mood, and sound. With five tracks, each having its own unique mood—someone will find their favorite tunes in at least one of the five, while others might get hooked on the entire album.
Corner Sun has taken the mastery of each member and combined them into a cohesive whole, creating music that tells their story without superfluous words but with a daring smile. “…and eat it too” is a vivid, vibrant moment that could turn you into a fan of this new indie band. The energy of Corner Sun is like taking a piece of the sweet life and letting it flow through your veins.
From the first chords of “Muddy,” you’re pulled into the rhythm of Corner Sun, which grabs and doesn’t let go. Stylish guitars, drums, keys—all create an atmosphere in which you want to dissolve. The vocals of the Odrich sisters, combined with the verses sung by keyboardist Katie DeFranco, add a sense of coziness, as if someone is telling you a story, and you are simply obliged to listen to every nuance. And then, when the solo starts, you fall into this textural, lush world where every instrument is in its place. It’s effortless, unobtrusive, but with that special twist that is so rare to find.
“Rom-Com” shifts the mood dramatically, like a scene change in a good movie. It’s all about romance, about being tender and unhurried. The vocals, like a gentle breeze, penetrate under the skin, and the foggy, slightly lazy atmosphere forces you to slow down and just float along with the melody. This track could easily play in the background of a TV show during a moment of unspoken tension between characters. But it does more—it envelops, hypnotizes, and soon you find yourself wanting to hit “repeat” and stay in this sound. Here, Corner Sun reveals themselves as true romantics who know how to capture any mood.

“Dumpster Fire” starts off slowly, as if something is brewing, but then suddenly explodes into energetic pop-punk. This track is a true anthem for those who like to let out everything they’ve been holding back, with an unstoppable vocal and a bright arrangement that sets the tone for “live lightly.” It’s the perfect track to shake things up before the final chords.
The EP finale features “Cloud” and “Colorblind Melodies,” and they wrap everything up on a high note. “Cloud” starts the melody with a more authoritative, confident tone, and the Odrich sisters’ vocals gain power, as if summing up everything that came before. There is something hypnotic in this track that makes you listen to it on repeat, continuing what started in the previous tracks but with added depth. The lyrics are captivating, and the structure keeps you tense, changing rhythms and adding new textures.
If you enjoy tracks with a touch of melancholy, wrapped in a misty atmosphere and shimmering sound, then the final “Colorblind Melodies” will surely become your favorite. Here, Corner Sun dives into experiments, creating a complex composition with textural harmonies and unexpected transitions. The chorus bursts in with bright indie rock, leaving a strong impression—it’s a track built on contrasts and unconventional solutions. It’s the perfect EP conclusion, showcasing that Corner Sun isn’t afraid to push boundaries and try new things. And they do it damn well.
The debut EP “…and eat it too” by Corner Sun leaves a pleasant aftertaste. It exudes confidence and proficiency from musicians who are clearly aiming for big things. I strongly recommend getting acquainted with their music now, as there are undoubtedly great releases ahead from Corner Sun.
This is their debut record, and frankly, it sounds awesome. But you know, there’s a feeling that they’ve still kept their trump cards hidden. And this only fuels interest—what will they offer next? For now, all that remains is to enjoy Corner Sun’s fresh release and wait for what comes next. And there certainly is a lot to look forward to.
