When I first played Lí-Lí Octave’s album “Play on Venus,“ I felt like I was reading someone’s personal WhatsApp messages—intimate, a bit awkward, but incredibly captivating. Heh, but seriously, without a doubt, Lí-Lí Octave and her live album are an invitation into the world of a woman who has decided to share her most intimate thoughts with the whole world.

You know the phrase: “Men are from Mars, women are from Venus“? Lí-Lí takes this as a foundation and creates an entire galaxy of emotions on her own Venus. Here, each song is a new planet—no, rather a star illuminating the path through her personal experiences.

Her voice is a story in itself. Four octaves of possibilities that she uses not for show, but to convey the depth of her feelings to us. In one track, she whispers softly, almost brushing the tips of your ears, in another, she declares herself powerfully and confidently, sending chills down your spine. With such a range, she could easily compete for any vocal awards, but it seems she’s not particularly interested in that.

But I would say that the main thing about this album is its honesty. Lí-Lí isn’t afraid to be vulnerable, to talk about things many prefer to keep silent about. She sings about love and its complexities, about the compromises we make, about battling our own thoughts, especially in those moments when emotions take over. She touches on themes familiar to everyone but does so as if she’s speaking directly to you.

“Wait (For Your Love)” gently introduces us to this world with soft keyboard sways, warm bass, and Li-Li’s magical voice. Her vocals gradually unfold by the middle of the track, soaring upwards and causing goosebumps.

In “Lay It Down,” the emotions become almost tangible. They touch the soul and body, swaying the atmosphere in gentle and light soul-jazz. Li-Li’s voice here is so sensual that it evokes an atmosphere of complete immersion in the sound.

And then comes “You Scared,” and the atmosphere changes. A light experiment, a mix of styles catches you unexpectedly, raising a wave of mild anxiety. Li-Li artistically conveys her innermost emotions through her voice. It’s a very powerful track that allows you to accept your fears and let them go.

“Struggling” draws you into a whirlpool of passion with a smoother and more intense atmosphere. If you close your eyes, the track’s emotion will overwhelm you by the very end. Stylish, energetic, and simply stunning. This is music that makes you feel.

I’m absolutely thrilled with “Get Off Me“—a sweet track with a swaying arrangement, light pop-R&B vocals, and stylish backing vocals. It’s a moment of respite when you can enjoy the perfect live sound.

“Mind Your GD Business” brings a light atmosphere of carefreeness, a cozy evening, and freedom. It’s as if Lí-Lí suggests leaving all tasks and worries behind to dedicate time to yourself and your desires. Excellent rhythm, vibrant performance, and live sound add intimacy, undoubtedly bringing the listener closer to the artist.

The album concludes with the track “Top Of The World“—an explosive mix of R&B, funk, and electronics. Lí-Lí has carefully guided the listener through a transformation from recognizing one’s place in the world to complete emotional freedom. The vivid performance of the musicians, excellent sound, and Lí-Lí’s unbridled energy leave a sweet aftertaste after listening. It’s a cool ending to the album, making you feel on top of the world.

When I first played Lí-Lí’s “Play on Venus,“ I didn’t expect it to draw me in so deeply. She tackles topics that many avoid, and she does it with such power and honesty that it’s impossible to remain indifferent. Her voice is the voice of those who are tired of superficiality and crave something real. She isn’t afraid to be vulnerable, and it’s precisely this that gives her music such passion. All masks are off, leaving only sincerity.

And this brings up a thought: how important are such live albums today? When there’s so much noise and gloss around, with AI-generated tracks everywhere. Yes, my friend, it’s works like these that prevent us from forgetting the power of real music. Lí-Lí shows that art can be sincere, deep, and touch the soul. And who knows what changes await us if we allow ourselves to open our hearts to such revelations? If we’re ready to embrace this, then perhaps a new renaissance of true art awaits us—art that changes us and the world around us. In the meantime, Lí-Lí Octave’s “Play on Venus” is a must-listen.
