Feestet, a jazz ensemble hailing from Madison and led by the effortlessly charismatic Helen Feest, has stepped into the holiday ring with their take on the Irving Berlin classic “I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm.” Now, I’ll admit up front: I’m not particularly well-acquainted with the original. Shocking, I know.

But here’s the thing—Feestet’s rendition feels so self-assured, so finely tuned, that I don’t really want to know the original. Why compare when this version stands so confidently on its own? Helen Feest’s voice has this wonderfully vintage quality—think soft grain on a classic film reel. It’s warm, unhurried, and perfectly suited to a track that’s all about cozying up against the chill of winter.
There’s an evident respect here, a care in how the song is approached. Feestet plays with the mood rather than against it, honoring the melody without drowning it in holiday clichés. If this is the soundtrack to Feestet’s holiday spirit, then count me in—I’ll happily take another glass.
