“BB” by The Feather Doesn’t Overreach — It Just Delivers a Smooth, Airy Groove Perfect for Doing Absolutely Nothing

The Feather’s new single “BB” dips its toes in the pastel-tinted waters of ’80s nostalgia and comes out with a glowing tan. It’s sun-soaked, breezy, and stylish in a way that doesn’t try too hard. A beach day in synth form.

Right off the bat, the percussion deserves a nod — Thomas Hedlund of Phoenix fame lays down tight, shimmering rhythms that give the track an effortlessly groovy backbone. His drumming never overpowers but adds just enough polish to make everything glide. Sonically, we’re floating in a space that comfortably sits between Mk.gee’s lo-fi quirk, Toro y Moi’s laid-back synth-funk, and the mellow melancholy of early Porches.

Might not convert anyone looking for sharper songwriting or bigger payoffs, but for what it is — a soft-glow, neon-dream synthpop escape — it nails the assignment. Still, for an easy, catchy drift into warmer weather? Yeah. Worth your time.
