Matt Maltese drops another little heart-tugger on us, and honestly, it’s gorgeous. ‘Buses Replace Trains’ comes from a conversation about goofy band names, but what he spun out of that is this slow-motion, lovesick acoustic folk ballad that practically begs for a cinematic montage — two people locking eyes across a crowded room, a dramatic run through the rain, all that good stuff.

Production? Clean. Arrangements? Tasteful. Vibe? Hitting exactly where it needs to. The track’s gentle acoustic folk foundation never overstays its welcome, and Maltese’s performance holds it all together without feeling try-hard or overwrought.
Overall, ‘Buses Replace Trains’ feels like a quietly confident home run — subtle but memorable. Definitely one of his more immediately lovable singles in a while.
