Norfolk singer-songwriter Ervin Munir confronts a painful goodbye on “My Friend”, his final collaboration with producer Aeron Z Jones. Their working relationship began in October 2022 and stretched across three albums, with Jones contributing to every release along the way. When he passed away in September 2025, Munir lost a close friend alongside a trusted creative partner.
That history gives this release its emotional force. The intimate performance and heartfelt writing centre friendship and gratitude, allowing the personal significance of their last completed song to carry the piece. Thomas Joy helped finish the recording by adding harmony vocals, contributing another human connection to a song shaped by shared work.

There’s something particularly affecting about honouring a producer through the music he helped make. “My Friend” preserves an actual collaboration, giving listeners a final encounter with a partnership that shaped three years of Munir’s recorded life and forged a lasting friendship.
