San Cisco’s ‘Under the Light’: Is It Their Best Yet? Album Reviewed & Tour Thrills!

As soon as I heard that San Cisco was releasing their fifth album, “Under the Light,” I knew it would be something special. I’ve always been a devotee of their music, their refined style – and the new album lived up to all my expectations, and even surpassed them.

“Under the Light” is an album full of subtle shades and depth, retaining San Cisco’s signature sound while sounding distinctly different from their previous work, “Between You and Me.” This time, they decided to record it at home in Fremantle, and I think that’s what gave the album its special atmosphere – it’s much calmer, more balanced, and dreamier, reminiscent of a sweet, dense fog. What struck me was how the band managed to maintain its unique aesthetic while expanding its boundaries. They added new sounds, new textures, new ideas, all without losing that recognizable style that fans have come to love. “Under the Light” sounds like a personal diary, open to all. Each song hides a story that can be interpreted in different ways, but always remains sincere and true. This album prompts reflections on life, love, loss, and hope – and that’s exactly what I value in music.

Equally important is that “Under the Light” is quite a versatile album. What’s your mood today? “Under the Light” by San Cisco fits any situation. If it’s gray and rainy outside, and your soul longs for an outlet, this album will provide invaluable support. Its melancholic melodies and deep lyrics seem to embrace you, urging you to embrace your feelings and experiences. But what if you’re in a place where dancing is the only answer? “Under the Light” will be your perfect partner for joyful moments. Infectious rhythms, catchy melodies, Jordi Davieson’s vocals beckon you to the dance floor, creating an atmosphere of fun and unbridled joy.

“Under the Light” consists of 11 tracks that, in a light pop synth manner, will take the listener by the hand through themes of growing up, relationships, and seeking harmony within them. Additionally, San Cisco touches on the theme of self-discovery in a constantly changing world. And all of this in a soft dream pop sound, with light synths and enticing disco beats. You’ll immediately notice the warmth inherent in San Cisco, starting with the first track, “Lost Without You.” A powerful surge of drive will send shivers down your spine, while the tender and sweet vocals in the album’s main single, “High,” will draw you into a dance under the evening lights.

Don’t miss the titular track, “Under the Light,” where the trumpet sound finds a denser and softer background, and Scarlett Stevens’ light percussion pushes you to sway and fully enjoy. Incredibly light and warm, with a bright vocal part that immediately captivates. A great starting point to get acquainted with San Cisco’s work. You’ll hear a new sound and a light experiment with sound in the track “Honeycomb.” The atmosphere is underscored by the club beat, and the light R&B synth direction will immediately captivate the ears of new listeners. It’s a perfect example of how San Cisco can blend styles and genres while maintaining their unique warm sound. Love it!

The energy shift in “Under the Light” is incredibly cool, as if the tracklist has already been crafted for the biggest tours, because in “Horoscope,” you’ll experience the sensation of a grand show. I must confess, this is my favorite track on the album, thanks to its textures, string arrangements, and smoky keys. The stylish vocals with a rather complex rhythmic pattern, create a sense of something entirely new while still hinting at a commercial pop sound. Asserting their right to lead the pop scene, the album ends on a completely stylish note. The track “Into My Heart” with Joshua Domenico’s resonant guitars, powerful drums, and Davieson’s soulful vocals, underscores San Cisco’s desire to leave not a period but an ellipsis after completing the album. A bright finale, which is about to burst into fireworks, completely ties you to San Cisco’s sound.

“Under the Light” is a perfect record that reflects all modern trends, sounding warm, personal, and incredibly intimate. It’s as if San Cisco are your best friends, giving you meaning and hope with their bright sound and incredibly light and luminous atmosphere. And if you, like me, don’t want to stop at just listening to the album, there’s good news for you: San Cisco is going on tour! Catch this trio to hear “Under the Light” live. It’s a unique opportunity to feel every note and every word right on stage. Check out San Cisco’s tour dates, they might be in your city!
