Tomek Zdyb Explores the Cost of Waiting for Love on His New Single “PENELOPE”

Polish singer-songwriter Tomek Zdyb draws connections between personal experience and ancient mythology, using familiar characters to examine the choices people make in their relationships. His current project places those stories inside a contemporary songwriting framework, with “PENELOPE” arriving as its second single. For an independent artist building a wider audience, it offers a clear introduction to the questions that interest him: devotion, identity and the emotional consequences of organising your life around someone else.

“PENELOPE” has a driving pop rock groove, with light keyboards, electronic touches and vibrant strings bringing the song to a close. Hints of retro pop give the sound a warm, soft character, while Zdyb’s strong, distinctive voice makes an immediate impression. His bright high notes are a particular highlight, catching the ear as soon as they arrive.

With his new single, Zdyb turns his attention towards the person left waiting. The mythological reference carries centuries of praise for loyalty, yet Zdyb approaches that devotion through its personal cost. A partner’s possible return becomes the event around which everything else revolves. Meanwhile, the waiting person’s ambitions, needs and sense of self gradually slip down the list.

Another day, another adjustment, another reason to keep a place open for somebody. Its emotional stakes belong to the person whose future remains on hold. That focus gives Zdyb’s mythology project a persuasive direction, with human decisions carrying the weight of the larger story. Staying can earn admiration from everyone around you while demanding an increasingly punishing private sacrifice. Zdyb gives that contradiction room, treating the boundary between love and self-abandonment as the song’s central concern.

Zdyb has already earned chart recognition, with several releases reaching the Top 10 of LGBTQ Music Charts and Apple Music charts in Greece. “WHAT IF”, his collaboration with Sakgra, reached the top of the Greek Electronic Music chart. His 2026 achievements also include a semifinal appearance in San Marino’s Eurovision selection process and third place at the international Rising Stars competition in Kosovo. Those results provide some useful context for an artist whose releases have travelled beyond his home country.
